BFI and Plusnet present a special screening of Wim Wenders’ 1987 classic film, Wings of Desire

This Sunday, 1st November, Wim Wenders’ 1987 classic, Wings of Desire will be shown at The Hive, through Shrewsbury Film Society at 8pm (bar open from 7.30pm). Individual tickets are £6 on the door.

The screening is part of the BFI (British Film Institute) and Plusnet’s nationwide LOVE season, rekindling the nation’s passion for film and television’s most enduring love stories.

What makes this screening, particularly unique is that the same film will be screened simultaneously at 20 different locations across the UK, inviting thousands of people to experience the film at the same time in Belfast, Bristol, Bo’ness, Glasgow, London, Orkney, Paisley, Shrewsbury, Tewkesbury and Melton Mowbray.

The film will be followed by a new specially recorded audio piece from Tut Vu Vu and Kathryn Elkin.

The main event will be held by Glasgow Film Festival with a spectacular immersive screening in the breath-taking surroundings of the 12th century Paisley Abbey.

About Wings of Desire

Set in the 1980s before the fall of the Berlin Wall, the film follows Bruno Ganz’s weary angel Daniel, who moves invisible through the city, listening to its inhabitants’ innermost thoughts and desires. However, when he falls in love with lonely trapeze artist Marion (Solveig Donmartin), he begins to contemplate a gesture of love that will transform his whole existence.
