A Teeny Glimpse of Goodness

So, my fellow Salopians, what on Earth is the orange hot thing we have been looking at in the sky of late? I don't know what it was but I know this cannot be summer because people aren't wearing thick jumpers and waterproof trousers. Long may it last I say, on behalf of myself and other phoebeans. This is a new word I have just made up to suggest the worship or Phoebus, the Greek sun god, I shall declare it so! However, come rain or shine, I want to tell you that for the Arts, this summer will bring us so much. It will bring arts festivals everywhere, Church Stretton, Shropshire Fringe, Shrewsbury and others through the salad days to come.

There will be music for every generation. There will be thatre, open mics, festivals, ceilidhs, flaggens and eels. The whole thing will be happening not just in this vibrant town but around the county. Villages and towns will come alive with music and dance, film and theatre will flourish fruitfully. The extraordinarily good folk and street theatre festivals will as ever round off what I am longing to be a wonderfully warm and basking summer for us all.

But for  this week at least the art, beauty and radiance of this diverse landscape that is our home will be testament enough for all that we are indeed fortunate to have. If you can drive or walk to Devil's Mouth, Boiling Well, Devil's Chair, catch the narrowboats or see the swans on Ellesmere, seek out Mad Jack Mytton or see any one of our fantastic towns and villages in Shropshire. That is your teeny glimpse of goodness. That is home. Support your arts this summer, to every  actor, musician, dancer, singer and painter – perform your very best every time. And you, like the county should Floreat!
