Wheelchair user and first class honours graduate joins fast lane at RGK

Burntwood business appoints recent graduate with personal experience of RGK products to help provide bespoke world class wheelchairs to customers

RGK, the Burntwood/Staffordshire/Midlands-headquartered company specialising in designing and manufacturing sport and daily use wheelchairs, has taken on a new graduate to help spearhead its sales success during its silver anniversary year.

Derby-based George Dickin joins RGK as a Mobility Advisor for the central region, following his graduation from Nottingham Trent University, with a first-class degree in Property Investment and Finance.

As an RGK Octane wheelchair user himself, George said that he could easily relate to the needs of the customers he would be working with. He added: "Having gone through the measuring process myself and having had discussions with an RGK sales advisor as a customer, I have a full appreciation of how it feels to buy a wheelchair, particularly the excitement of receiving a new, bespoke model and discussing the ease of moving around. My insight as an owner of a top RGK wheelchair provides me with a thorough and personal understanding of the company's products and allows me to make a contribution from day one."

George will spend two months as a trainee, working alongside Sales Director Dan Sutton, before he is fully qualified for the role, which will see him manage customer relationships throughout the central region, covering the East Midlands from Derby to the East coast.

As a Mobility Advisor, a major part of George's role is to make regular home visits, taking measurements and giving advice to customers about their chairs. It can take between one and two hours to fully spec a wheelchair for the customer.

George commented: "Handing over the finished wheelchair to the customer is the single most rewarding experience of the job. Every wheelchair designed by RGK is completely bespoke, as they are designed with the exact needs of the individual, to support them physically but also to inject some of their personality into the design. As such, the wheelchair user never knows what the chair will look like until the moment of the handover and therefore is often a surprise. It is a truly unique experience."

Russel Simms, Co-Founder and Director of RGK, concluded: "We're delighted to welcome George to the RGK team. His enthusiasm, personal experience and friendly nature are great assets that will be used to huge benefit in his new position. We have had a particularly successful 25th year in business, with record sales and experiencing substantial growth across the UK and overseas. George will enable us to continue boosting sales on our home turf and we look forward to watching him develop into his new role."

For 25 years, RGK has been the UK's market leader in bespoke wheelchair design and manufacturing. Its co-founders and directors are wheelchair users, giving RGK a unique perspective of the industry and full appreciation of the requirements of their customers. RGK's portfolio of completely bespoke daily-use and sports chairs to perfectly fit the user, which come in a variety of colours, spokes, upholstery and materials.
