Vehicle rental firm gives new business a lift

A thriving new Telford business has been given a lift by one of the town’s long-established firms.

Sutton Maddock Vehicle Rental has stepped in to help entrepreneur Mark Weaver in his new venture.

Mark, who runs a plumbing business from Halesfield, saw a gap in the market for a locally-based waste management company.

He launched ‘A Load of’ and sourced his first 3.5 ton truck from Sutton Maddock. The vehicle is rented to him on a long-term full-maintenance contract.

“I could see a demand for the new venture because a lot of my plumbing customers need to get rid of old furniture, bathrooms and kitchens,” Mark explained.

“My new business is an alternative to hiring and loading a skip – we collect junk from homes and businesses throughout Telford and takes it away to dispose of it safely and quickly. We also do our best to stop items going into landfill by recycling as much as possible and donating items such as furniture to charities.

“Sutton Maddock has been great to work with as I wanted to join forces with a local vehicle rental specialist who would offer me an affordable, hassle-free solution to my needs.”

Tom Spickernell, who is managing director of Sutton Maddock, a family-owned business founded over 40 years ago, wished the new operation well.

“It is really satisfying to work with new businesses and we always aim to provide a low-cost, flexible and friendly service. We expect Mark will be expanding the business in the near future as he is so busy so it is a partnership we can see developing next year.”

Sutton Maddock Vehicle Rental was founded by Tom’s grandfather and currently operates one of the largest rental fleets in the region, supplying a range of vans, cars, MPVs, mini buses and trucks up to 7.5 ton.
