Upcoming meets at Ludlow racecourse

There are not many better ways to spend a day out, whether it be with family, friends, or both, than a day at the races. From the biggest stages the racing world has to offer, to your friendly local racecourse, you are sure to have an excellent day out with fantastic entertainment, and it all comes with the added bonus of the possibility of winning your money back!

Set in stunning Shropshire countryside, Ludlow racecourse is home to a fantastic racecourse, often dubbed one of Britain’s friendliest. Along with the stunning natural setting, Ludlow racecourse offers spacious stands and pavilions, including the Jubilee Stand, from which visitors can cheer their horses to victory.

Often called ‘Lovely Ludlow’, the course is home to a number of national hunt race meetings every year. The next race day at Ludlow will take place on January 29th 2014, with what are sure to be competitive fields on display. The jumps racing will continue throughout the rest of the national hunt season, with race days also planned for February 5th, 19th and 27th. With the season drawing to a close, horses, jockeys and trainers will be looking to end strongly during race days at Ludlow throughout March and into April.

The Racing

As a national hunt racecourse, Ludlow enjoys the attention of British racing while its race days are taking place. Punters can click for more information on the odds of Ludlow races, and with top class jumps action happening throughout the season at Ludlow, a winner or two could be found.

The course at Ludlow offers a stern test to both horse and jockey. Coming in at a circuit of around one and a half miles surrounded by picturesque Shropshire countryside, Ludlow provides an excellent backdrop for top class jumps racing. Riders take the course right-handed, with the home straight taking the runners past the crowds placed in the Grandstand and Paddock, and the Clive Pavilion. Race goers who feel like treating themselves can even watch the racing from their own private box.

With an excellent drainage system in place, the going conditions at Ludlow racecourse rarely provide too much of a test for the horses, and for this reason the races tend to be more about speed than anything else. The good ground also provides a welcome change for horses who prefer more solid ground underfoot, especially during the British winter.

With some excellent racing coming up at Ludlow in 2014, there has never been a better time to enjoy a day out at the races.
