Top comedian lined up for Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury restaurant and music venue Henry Tudor House, situated off Wyle Cop, has announced an impressive line up for its latest comedy club evening.

The popular club was launched earlier this year, with every monthly event so far selling out.

“There is obviously a big demand for high quality stand-up comedy in Shropshire and we are excited about our forthcoming event on June 11, which will be our last before a summer break but the comedy club will return in the autumn,” said Henry Tudor House proprietor Graham Jenkins.

The next live comedy evening at Henry Tudor House will feature Mike Wilmot, star of BBC1’s Live at the Apollo who has achieved rave reviews for his act.

Time Out magazine said of him: “Wilmot can give any other stand-up alive lessons in the power of laughter.”

He won the coveted Barry Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and he has made several appearances on BBC2’s Never Mind The Buzzcocks.

The Shrewsbury evening will be hosted by up and coming young comedian Marlon Davis who has appeared at the Edinburgh Festival and who has supported Kevin Bridges, Michael McIntyre and Alan Carr on tour.

Two other comedians complete the line-up for the club evening, held on the top floor of Henry Tudor House which has a purpose-built stage, high quality lighting and acoustics and can seat up to 100 people.

Tickets cost £12 each and are available from Henry Tudor House or online at www.henrytudorhouse.com/live.
