Telford hotel creates its own bank and loyalty scheme

A landmark hotel in Shropshire has become more like a small village after launching it’s own currency and loyalty card.
Visitors to the Buckatree Hall Hotel, at the foot of the Wrekin in Telford, will be handed vouchers from the Bank of Buckatree to spend in the hotel from this month.
A new loyalty card called Buckatree Boxes has also been launched at the family-owned hotel where customers collect stamps each time they dine in the bar or restaurant.  Once they have collected nine stamps they can claim a three course meal free of charge.
General Manager Wayne Jenson said: “The loyalty card is our way of saying thank you and acknowledging the strong customer base we have.
“You can have your loyalty card stamped each time you come in, bar snacks, Sunday lunch or evening meals all count.
“Along with the Bank of Buckatree, we think it is a great way for customers to benefit and really take advantage of the fact they love coming here.”
In addition to the loyalty card, the vouchers from the Bank of Buckatree will be handed out to guests at the end of meals to be used against future visits or can be requested, subject to availability.
The money vouchers have been designed with a horse on them in place of the Queen in recognition of the owner Grant Moon who is six times holder of the prestigious title of World Champion Blacksmith.
When someone spends more than £20 they can cash in the voucher to get £10 off their food bill. The Monopoly-style money can be used in both the Lander Bar and the Lakeside restaurant.

The loyalty schemes follow a £1million refurbishment project at the 62-bedroom hotel.
Since businessman Mr Moon bought the hotel from the Matrix Group in 2010 a new gym and function room have been built and the bar, restaurant, banqueting suite and bedrooms have been refurbished.
Mr Jenson added: “We have had a lot of work done on the hotel in the last two years and we are really pleased with the results.

“Now we want to reward our loyal guests and customers with these offers.

“The Bank of Buckatree is a bit of fun to say we have our own currency, but it sets us apart from chain hotels across the county.

“It’s the personal touch that counts.”
The hotel has an 80-cover restaurant, a 50-cover bar and a 200-capacity function room for weddings, awards ceremonies and events.

The latest function room, the Hespa Stretton room, has been specially built for business meetings, networking events and private dining.
