Tearoom with a view is re-opened

A tearoom with ‘the best view in town’ is about to open its doors in Shrewsbury.

Mark and Caroline Jones have just taken over the café at The Parade shopping arcade in St Mary’s Place and are looking forward to welcoming customers to their spectacular terrace.

“We think we must have one of the best views in Shrewsbury – if not in the county - from our terrace as it overlooks the River Severn, English Bridge and the open countryside beyond,” said Mark.

He and his wife Caroline have been running a tearoom in Castle Street, Shrewsbury, for over five years and are taking on their second venture due to its success.

Caroline explained: “We only serve wholesome, home-made food using as many local suppliers as possible and have found this is the key to success, especially when combined with comfortable surroundings, efficient service and a friendly atmosphere.

“The Parade is a beautiful building with some fascinating, independent shops and our new business will add to its unique offer. We have carried out a big refurbishment of the café, which had been closed for some time, and are very excited about our plans for the terrace, which include an awning area so that customers can enjoy the view all year round. It is also hoped we may be able to organise themed events and even barbeques.

“The opening times are being extended and a new breakfast menu will be introduced, as well as home cooked light lunches, daily specials, traditional afternoon teas with fresh scones and cakes, speciality shakes and a selection of fresh leaf teas and coffee.”

The new business will be called ‘The Snug Café’ and is situated on the lower ground floor of The Parade. It officially opens to customers on March 29 and Mark and Caroline, who will be creating six new jobs, are also planning a launch party later in the spring.
