A Taste of Christmas at Weston Park

Shropshire’s stately home Weston Park is inviting visitors to experience the sights, smells and tastes of Christmas as part of its packed calendar of festive activities. With acres of snow dusted Capability Brown pleasure grounds and the house beautifully decked with plump Christmas trees and twinkling lights, Weston is a winter wonderland waiting to be discovered.

On 12th and 14th November, Head Chef Guy Day will be getting into the festive spirit with a special cookery class, inspiring guests to use their Christmas leftovers to make delicious and hassle free dishes to keep the family full until New Year. Think bubble and squeak with a twist, turkey curry and panetone pudding, plus ideas to reinvent Christmas puds into a host of new desserts.

On 7th and 8th of December, Weston’s famous Food & Craft Fayre will descend with over 80 stalls selling an array of homemade gifts and tasty treats. Local artisans and producers will offer everything from Christmas wreaths, handmade glass and stocking fillers to festive chutneys, wild boar sausages and fruity gins. Enjoy a warming cup of mulled cider and tuck into a delicious hog roast while the children take a ride on the miniature railway in true ‘Polar Express’ style.

House tours will be taking place as part of the Christmas Fayre, where guests can follow a trail to learn more about the festive traditions of a bygone era and how these were celebrated by the families who have lived and worked at Weston since the 17th century. The new Granary Deli will be bursting with seasonal treats and gifts for food lovers.

Guy Day’s cookery demonstrations starts at 11am, with an additional evening session on 14th November starting at 6:15pm. £25 per person, including recipe packs, tastings and a two-course lunch in the Granary Grill restaurant. To book call 01952 852100.

The Christmas Food & Craft Fayre is open from 10am until 4pm. Admission is £1 per person and under 4’s go free. House admission is £2 per person and a ride on the miniature railway is £2 per person.
