Successful launch for new comedy club

The launch of a new Shropshire comedy club has been hailed as a huge success.

Popular Shropshire restaurant and music venue Henry Tudor House, situated off Wyle Cop in Shrewsbury, announced the new venture for 2014, booking
several high profile comedians including headline act Rob Dearing for its first event, held recently.

“The evening sold out very quickly, proving that there is a big demand for high quality stand-up comedy in Shropshire,” said Henry Tudor House proprietor Graham Jenkins.
“Despite the awful weather a big crowd turned out for our first night, featuring four comedians, and everyone really enjoyed themselves. Tickets are now on sale for our second night next month and I’m sure it will be equally as successful,” he said.
The next live comedy evening at Henry Tudor House will be held on March 12 and a regular on BBC 2’s Never Mind the Buzzcocks will be headlining.
Joe Lycett, who was also a guest on Celebrity Juice and 8 out of 10 Cats, is described as delivering ‘imaginative and cheekily subversive comedy’ by The Guardian.
He will be supported by Romesh Ranganathan who has appeared on Live at the Apollo, as well as up-and-coming comedians Ian Smith and John Kearns.
The club is held on the top floor of Henry Tudor House which has a purpose-built stage, high quality lighting and acoustics and can seat up to 100 people.
Tickets cost £12 each and are available from Henry Tudor House or online at www.henrytudorhouse.com/live.
