Specialist salon’s charity boost

A Shrewsbury hair salon which specialises in helping people affected by cancer has contributed to a £700,000 charity donation.

Toni & Guy, based in Castle Street, Shrewsbury, is one of 100 ‘strength in style’ salons throughout the UK which work with Macmillan Cancer Support.

Owner Gavin Pulham said that some of his team of stylists had undergone training with Macmillan nurses to help improve the quality of hair care for local people who have undergone chemotherapy.

“Staff and customers also take part in regular fund-raising events and activities to collect money for Macmillan Cancer Support, which is one of the main charities supported by the Toni & Guy Foundation,” Gavin explained.

“We are very proud of the work we do with people affected by cancer and our customers seem to appreciate the time and trouble we take to make them feel good about their hair again.

“Raising money for such a good cause is also an important part of our role as a business and we are grateful to all the customers of our Shrewsbury store for contributing,” he said.

The Toni & Guy Foundation has just reached a £700,000 milestone and has presented each of its salons with a certificate to mark the occasion.
