Smoke & Pickle to Supply Leading Scottish Distributor

The Smoke & Pickle Food Company of Shropshire, a Shrewsbury based company, is to supply The Cress Company of Scotland with the company’s range of award winning products. The official launch of Smoke & Pickle products by The Cress Company is planned for January 2014.

Based in Dunfermline, The Cress Company currently distributes a range of food products to mainland Scotland and the North of England using a fleet of dual temperature vehicles. They supply products from high quality manufacturers to a variety of trade customers which include delis, cafes, farm shops, hotels and restaurants.

The company was started in 2004 by Joe Wall. As the business grew there was increasing interest from other manufacturers who were keen to work with the Cress Co, including those based in England and further afield.

Nikki Castley, Buyer, at the Cress Company said: “We are looking forward to working in partnership with Smoke & Pickle to distribute their delicious soups & prepared meals. This exciting new addition to our catalogue remains true to our strategy of sourcing fine food products which our customers are looking for in terms of provenance, quality and taste.”

Sara Curtis, owner of Smoke & Pickle, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be asked to supply our products to The Cress Company. This opportunity represents an important step in the expansion of our business and one which gives us an excellent route into the Scottish market”.

Co-owner Will Curtis added. “Our retail network in England and Wales has been expanding steadily over the last two years and the partnership with The Cress Company will provide the potential to supply a significant number of new trade customers.”

Smoke & Pickle, now in its second year of full production, supplies its freshly made range of award winning fine food products to high quality delicatessens, farm shops, food halls, garden centres and other independent retailers throughout the UK. The company’s products include Soups, Prepared Meals, Potted Fish, Potted Cheeses and Desserts. The company’s customers include Selfridges, Chatsworth Estate Farm Shop, Partridges of Sloane Square, Bodnant Welsh Food Centre, Ludlow Food Centre, Battlefield 1403 and Paxton & Whitfield.

Smoke & Pickle has won the Great Taste 2012 and 2013 Gold Star Award for its products. The company was also runner-up in the Heart of England Fine Food 2012 and 2013 Diamond Awards.
