Sleep in a bed fit for a future king

It’s not often you have the chance to live like a king but now people in Shropshire can get the opportunity to sleep in a bed fit for a future monarch.

Independent furniture store, Alan Ward, is a stockist of a bed said to have been bought by the Duchess of Cambridge for her new home at Kensington Palace in London.

Kate tracked down the Healthbeds Natural Choice 4500 after calling the former landlord of the remote North Wales cottage she shared with Prince William to ask him where the bed came from.

The couple had slept in the bed, which boasts 4,200 springs and natural fillings including cashmere, silk, cotton and wool, during the prince’s tour of duty as an RAF search and rescue pilot in Anglesey.

And Alan Ward’s showroom in Ennerdale Road, Harlescott, Shrewsbury has been inundated with calls from the public keen to follow in the Duke and Duchess’ footsteps since their choice of bed came to light.

Gareth Griffiths, beds and bedroom buyer at Alan Ward, said: “We have been the only stockist for Healthbeds in Shropshire for a number of years and find they are always popular with our customers.

“However, since it became public that the Duchess had ordered the Natural Choice 4500 for Kensington Palace we have seen an unprecedented demand for this particular model.

“We decided we just had to get it in store because there was so much interest in it and obviously because of the royal connection.”

Buying the right bed is one of the most important furniture buying decisions you have to make for a home.

And experts suggest you should invest in a good bed to help you stay healthy by getting a good night’s sleep.

Mr Griffiths said: “Here at Alan Ward we know what an important decision choosing a bed is to ensure people get a good night’s sleep.

“Our staff are fully trained and are very knowledgeable in helping customers create their perfect sleeping environment.

“We have a wide range of beds, mattresses and bedframes available at our store in Ennerdale Road in Harlescott.

“We do all we can to make sure customers buy a comfortable bed which is going to last them many years.”

He said: “Kate obviously loved the Healthbeds bed so much she had to get another one for her new home.

“Now people in Shropshire can try one of the same beds and have the chance to sleep in a bed fit for a future king!”
