Shropshire's Alan Ward launches wedding list service.

Bosses at Shropshire’s largest furniture department store has launched a wedding list service to give couples the chance to ask their guests to help furnish their new home together.

The service is a new department for Alan Ward and they are hoping brides and grooms-to-be will take advantage of expert advice on offer at the store.

Stephanie Hall, cookshop manager at Alan Ward, said: “We have been thinking for a while about how we could expand what we could offer our customers.

“Starting a wedding gift service was the ideal next step after launching our new departments.

“We want to give our customers the best service possible and this was something a number of people had suggested when they were shopping at the store.”

Miss Hall, who will be co-ordinating the service said: “Couples using Alan Ward for their wedding gift list have the opportunity to select from all departments.

“What is good is that it is possible for people to furnish their entire home at the store and that’s everything from a sofa group to a designer saucepan set.

“The great thing is you can choose larger items like a complete bedroom and ask your guests to contribute to it or you can select lower priced items so your guests can provide all the finishing touches such as scatter cushions, mirrors, pictures, lighting and accessories.”

She said staff would be on hand to offer expert advice on selecting the items for their wedding list.

Miss Hall said: “Guests can contact us by phone or email to select the items they want to give the couple.

“We provide ‘Our wedding list is at Alan Ward’ cards that can be put inside the wedding invitations.

“Our aim is to take all the stress and hassle out of organising the couple’s wedding list as we understand and appreciate that they already have lots of other things to organise.”

And so they do not feel left out, Alan Ward, which has a store on Ennerdale Road, will be giving the couples a gift of their own with a voucher worth 10 per cent of the total value of all the wedding gifts.

Miss Hall said: “I am sure our wedding list service will prove popular and believe that we offer something unique that other stores do not.

“We have everything a couple could need to create a home and hope they will come along to see what we can offer.

“With our in-store coffee shop for refreshments, it will be a very special day for the couple to browse the store and create their dream list.”
