Shropshire Charity support families, founder wins Charity Mum award 2013

PANDAS (Pre and Postnatal Depression Advice and Support) was founded by Rachael and Stuart Dobson of Shrewsbury, Shropshire in August 2011 after Rachael’s own experience of antenatal and postnatal depression when having their son in February 2010. Now the charity has celebrated its second birthday and has experience exceptional growth in its second year. It welcomes two new trustees from Shrewsbury to the board; Anna Simpson owner of Sing and Sign Shrewsbury, and Alice Duncan creator of Forget me not Bears.

The Shropshire based charity has gained support from Bizmums who support and inspire mums in business through various networking events. On Saturday 14th September saw their first conference and awards. Bizmums raised £187 for PANDAS through a raffle on the day.

Trustees; Rachael Dobson, Alice Duncan and Anna Simpson attended the day, which also saw Alice Duncan winning Bizmums Creative Mum 2013 award for her work with forget me not bears, as well as founder Rachael Dobson winning Bizmums Charity Mum 2013 in recognition for all her hard work raising awareness and support families with pre and postnatal illnesses across Shropshire and the rest of the UK.

Rachael said ‘I can’t believe PANDAS is now in its third year. The charity has seen an increase from supporting 355 families in year one to over 3500 in year two. It is fantastic to also welcome Anna and Alice onto our board of Trustees at the start of our third year. I was surprised to have our achievements at PANDAS recognised when I won Bizmums Charity Mum 2013 award, I don’t want anyone to forget the hard work all the team put in at PANDAS especially my husband Stuart, it wouldn’t be possible without him’.
