Shrewsbury's biggest pop up shop to open

Shropshire’s largest furniture “pop up” clearance shop will be opened for the first time by bosses of Shropshire’s leading independent furniture store - and is expected to last just 10 days before it is a sell-out.

Tens of thousands of pounds worth of furniture, beds and carpets from Alan Ward will be moved to a nearby temporary warehouse on Ennerdale Road in Harlescott for the clearance starting on Thursday May 8.

Bosses of Alan Ward said it was the first time they had done such an event by opening up a temporary clearance outlet.

They are expecting to see thousands of people throughout the event and they will close their doors when everything has gone. Stock will be replenished every day and hundreds of items will be available from a £5 picture up to a quality G Plan sofa group with 60 per cent off the recommended retail price.

Kathy Lesser, marketing manager at Alan Ward said: “The temporary outlet is at the back of Clearance Factors on Ennerdale Road – just 100 yards from our main store - and will house hundreds of items throughout the 10 days we expect the sale to last.

“In any business our size, stock builds up as we discontinue current ranges to make space for new ranges which we will be selling in our first ‘pop up’ clearance outlet.

“Some of the stock surplus is a result of the modernisation programme underway at our flagship store and some of it is a result of updating displays at all our stores which we do at the beginning of each season.

“Customers look to us for the latest trends in home furnishings and it is a fast moving industry.

“By offering Alan Ward surplus stock at an unprecedented up to 70 per cent off we are expecting an extremely busy period - it will be all hands on deck and all staff will be in to cope with the demand.”

Miss Lesser added: “We expect it to last about 10 days and we will replenish sold stock every day so it’s worth paying us a visit more than once.

The warehouse is currently being transformed into the ‘temporary clearance outlet’ ahead of the opening on Thursday May 8. It will be open Thursday to Saturday from 9.30am to 5.30pm and 10.30am to 5pm on Sunday and continue while stocks last.
