Shrewsbury party firm in the running to win national award in ‘Parenting Oscars’

A Shrewsbury party firm, based in Monkmoor is celebrating after clinching a place in the regional final to find the UK’s top children’s party company. Kelly's Cake Creations run by Kelly Byrne beat off rivals from hundreds of other local businesses for a place in the competition run by Britain’s largest parenting site
Kelly mum of two set up the company in April 2012 after leaving a career of 8 years as a child care practitioner, she now provides bespoke celebration cakes for all occasions. But the firm must now battle it out to be crowned the overall Shropshire area winner. Voting has just opening in the poll on, with more than a million parents and child carers who are members of the site eligible to take part.

Delighted Kelly said: “We’re a small local business so to be in with a chance to win a top national award is fantastic. We work hard to provide the best memories for children at their parties. I’ve spent many years designing the perfect cake for family and friends that it seemed like an ideal time to turn my passion into a business after having my 2nd child. We pride ourselves on using only good quality ingredients and free range eggs whilst still maintaining affordable prices, I believe this is one of the reasons our customers have nominated us.
So I’d like to ask all the local mums and dads to get behind us, vote for us and make us the Shropshire party suppliers winner!”

The national Netmums awards have been dubbed the ‘Parenting Oscars’. They were set up to recognise the best firms in the growing children's party market, which is now worth a whopping £750 million a year in the UK.

Categories include favourite Party Entertainers, Party Suppliers and Venues – with winners in each category being crowned the best in each region.

Voting closes on August 23 when the overall winner will be crowned the region’s best children’s party business. To vote simply click on the 'Vote' button on the Netmums Party Awards section. Each person voting is also entered into a draw to win £250 worth of Smyths Toy Store vouchers.

Local Netmums Editor Alison Belcher said: “Competition is very close with some fantastic local businesses in the running to win. It shows the lengths local parents are willing to go to to give their kids a great party.”
