Shrewsbury Jobs Fair to be Regular Event

Following on from the success of Last Friday’s jobs fair, Shrewsbury and Atcham MP Daniel Kawczynski has pledged to hold the event on a regular basis.

The Jobs Fair, which took place in the Shirehall, Shrewsbury last Friday [27 September] was supported by local businesses who joined forces with Daniel to promote employment opportunities in the town.

483 people were in attendance throughout the day and local employers offered 112 vacancies, with further 200 – 250 opportunities on offer through the recruitment agencies that attended the event.

Daniel Kawczynski said:
“I was delighted with the support from local businesses and was really pleased that the event managed to attract so many people that are currently looking for work.

Shrewsbury employment trend of the past few months has been encouraging but judging by the amount of people that attended this event, we need to work harder for those that are struggling to find employment and training.

I have had some very positive feedback; employers attending the event have told me that they thought it was very well organised with a good steady flow of people attending and some quality candidates.  Many application forms were completed and handed in on the day and I very much hope that applicants are successful in attaining employment.

There was a general consensus that the event should be held on a regular basis and I was pleased to receive ideas on how we can make the next one even better.  I hope to arrange another event in the New Year and at six monthly intervals after that”
