Shrewsbury Jobs Fair

In a bid to help the unemployed back into work, Daniel Kawczynski MP is organising a Jobs Fair in Shrewsbury.  The event will take place on Friday 27 September and will provide the opportunity for those looking for a job to come along and meet with prospective employers to discuss potential work opportunities.

Daniel has invited over 40 local businesses to join him at Shirehall, Abbey Foregate, Shrewsbury between 10:00am and 3:00pm on Friday 27 September 2013,with many employers having already signed up to support the event.

Daniel Kawczynski said:
“Shrewsbury has been hit hard over the last year or so with the loss of some major employers and I am keen to spread the word that there are still many great businesses out there that can offer a wide variety of employment opportunities.

So far I have contacted over 40 local businesses to ask whether they would be willing to support this initiative by having a stand at the event. It is however open to everyone who may be looking for people to fill permanent or temporary positions or can offer apprenticeships, so if there are other employers who consider that attendance at the Fair would be beneficial to their business, I would be pleased to hear from them.

Shrewsbury employment trend of the past few months has been encouraging but there are still a lot of my constituents without a job or a plan to get one.   I know that similar events held in other parts of the country have been very successful and well attended.  I hope that this Jobs Fair will open up opportunities for the people of Shrewsbury who are looking for employment.”

Anyone wishing to attend this free event either as a prospective employer or as a job seeker is asked to contact Daniel’s constituency office on 01743 466477 for further details.

The jobs fair this morning went very well and there were a lot more attendees and companies exhibiting than we had expected. Thank you to everyone who showed an interest in our stand and who has since gone online to register their interest in applying for vacancies at our company.

Hopefully there will be another one in six months or so.
