Shrewsbury Company is Latest #SBS Winner

PipeKit, a family run, plastic pipe distributor, based in Annscroft, Shrewsbury is the latest company to be selected as a winner in Theo Paphitis’s Small Business Sunday initiative, #SBS, run through Twitter.

The scheme rewards small businesses that tweet @TheoPaphitis and pitch their business in one tweet, between the hours of 17.00 and 19.00 every Sunday.  Paphitis, best known for appearing on BBC Two’s Dragon’s Den, then reviews and selects six of his favourite.  This week PipeKit’s emphasis on technical support and customer service clinched it for the young company, causing unprecedented levels of activity for PipeKit on both its social media networks and website.

The tweet: @Pipekit: Family owned plastic pipes and valves specialist, the best technical help and service @TheoPaphitis #SBS was selected this Monday and re-tweeted to Theo Paphitis’s 400,000 plus strong followers on Twitter.  As a result, PipeKit’s Twitter account went stratospheric, gaining over 100 new followers within minutes and countless re-tweets, as well as opening the door immediately to new business opportunities.
Commenting on the #SBS phenomenon, Martyn Rowlands, owner and M.D of PipeKit said: “We were thrilled to be picked by Theo.  We had entered a number of times because we liked the premise of it being a network of like minded, privately owned companies who all share that entrepreneurial spirit.  To be acknowledged in that way is very motivating and we can’t wait to share fully in the SBS business network going forward”.

PipeKit’s win becomes the 17th Shropshire based company to be bestowed this honor since the initiative was set up in 2010.  Summarising, Martyn Rowlands adds: “There’s obviously something in the Shropshire water that helps drive our entrepreneurial spirits.  We’re really proud to be a family owned, Shropshire company and it’s great to see that there are other locally owned companies out there that, despite the economic climate, are succeeding and being acknowledged for their ideas, achievements and business vision”.
