The Shrewsbury Club deliver Christmas hampers

The Shrewsbury Club have delivered 30 hampers packed with Christmas treats to families around the town facing hardship after joining forces with Shrewsbury Food Bank.

The hampers including turkey and all the trimmings, Christmas pudding and a whole host more were presented to families who otherwise would have struggled to enjoy a Christmas dinner.

The hampers were donated by members and staff from The Shrewsbury Club on Sundorne Road.

Richard Attah-Donkor, club manager, said: “We think it is really important at this time of year to remember those who for whatever reason are less fortunate than ourselves.

"We are committed to being a club that is passionate about people’s welfare, about Shrewsbury and the local community.

"Our vision as a business is to make a difference to people’s lives and this is just one way that we can live out that vision.

"We are a family orientated club and we are mindful that some families find this a tough time of year.

"We are really grateful to the generosity of our members in helping to spread some good will around Shrewsbury.”

Peter Baker, from Shrewsbury Food Bank, added: "This is the second year that The Shrewsbury Club have worked with us in this way.

"We think it is fantastic that a local business makes an impact like this on the local community.

"The hampers will transform the Christmas experience for these families and we are so grateful for the hard work they have put in raising the funds and then putting the hampers together and delivering them.”
