Shrewsbury car dealership staff celebrate record breaking sales.

A Shrewsbury car dealership has made company history after achieving a record breaking week.

Bosses at Rybrook MINI today revealed they had sold the most number of MINIs in one week since opening on Featherbed Lane in 2008.

Staff sold 42 MINIs as part of a week long Golden Ticket event which saw every customer who bought a vehicle given the chance to enjoy an exclusive tour of the MINI Plant in Oxford. The tour involved the customers seeing the vehicles being made in the 100th anniversary year.

The first ever MINI rolled off the production line on May 8th 1959 and the company has designed and produced seven Mini models over the 100 years.

Ian Lockett, Rybrook Mini dealer principal, said: "I am extremely thrilled with the teams amazing efforts as well as the overwhelming turnout.

"The week long event saw hundreds of people come through the showroom doors and to achieve record breaking sales in what is the 100th anniversary year is phenomenal.

"The staff worked very hard and the sale of 42 Minis showed their dedication to the brand."

Mr Lockett said people had travelled from all over the county for the Golden Ticket event including people of all ages.

"The average age of a Mini driver is mid to late 30s so the vehicle is becoming increasingly popular with people with young families and also becoming increasingly popular as company cars," he said.
