Shrewsbury Basketball Club Recruiting for New Players

Shrewsbury Senior Basketball Club is now recruiting new players for the 2015/16 season as several players developed at the club last season and moved on to play at a higher level. The team trains on Wednesday nights at Roman Road Sports Centre between 8pm and 9pm, males and females aged 16 and over are welcome to join the club with no skill or previous experience required.

The sessions are focussed on player development and provide an opportunity for new players to learn the game and existing players to improve their skills. There is always a great atmosphere at training and it is a great environment where players work together to become better players. Players also regularly get the chance to compete in friendly games and tournaments against local teams. On Sunday 2nd August the team competed in the Shrewsbury Super 8 Tournament, with a special guest appearance from professional player Daniel Belgrave.

Coach Dave Owen said of this summer's recruitment "As a coach I can't wait to see some new faces come through the door. I'm passionate about helping players develop and play at a higher level, as well as introducing new players to the sport. I have been around basketball for 18 years and have never seen a more enjoyable place to play, and that's all down to the group of players we have. We have high character players who genuinely all want to see each other get better and really enjoy working together. I encourage anyone with an interest in basketball to come and along and get involved."

If you are interested in joining the club or would like more information please contact Coach Dave Owen on 07772 029867 or e-mail [email protected].
