Royal Shawl Available in Shrewsbury

With royal baby fever building again in preparation for the Christening of Prince George next week, one Shropshire retailer has announced the arrival of an extra special product.

Children’s wear specialist Pied Piper, based on Milk Street in Shrewsbury, has just taken delivery of the shawl that the prince was wrapped in on his first official public appearance whilst leaving St Mary’s Hospital in July.

The £45 ivory merino wool wrap is produced by Nottingham-based family business G H Hurt & Son who also supplied the shawl Prince Charles and Princess Diana used for HRH Prince William when he left hospital back in 1982.

Commenting of the arrival of the product, Caroline Francis, who runs Pied Piper with her sister Helen, said: “Since Prince George left hospital the manufacturers have been inundated with enquiries and requests from businesses who would like to stock the shawl.  We are therefore delighted that they accepted our request and have agreed to supply us.

“We believe Pied Piper is now the only stockist in Shropshire and we have already had requests from customers to reserve one of these beautiful blankets.

“They are so soft and ideal as a new born gift, for use as a Christening shawl or special occasion blanket. Each shawl is hand-finished with a scalloped edge, in the traditional Shetland way.

“We are now very much looking forward to seeing what Prince George wears for his Christening in St James’s Palace chapel next Wednesday.”

The shawls are available in store and online @
