Prestfelde’s rounders triumph

Around 100 pupils competed in a Shropshire Primary Schools Rounders Competition held at Prestfelde Preparatory School recently.

A total of eight schools took part in the tournament, hosted at Prestfelde’s grounds in London Road Shrewsbury.

Tina Owen, head of girls’ games at Prestfelde said: “It was great to see some fantastic rounders being played by such young people. It was also pleasing to see so many people come to cheer the children on. The pupils had a wonderful time and the weather stayed fine for us.”

Headmaster Mark Groome presented the prizes and medals to: Prestfelde (first), Trinity School (second), St George’s (third), St Giles (fourth), Coleham (fifth), Meole Brace (sixth), Shrewsbury Cathedral (seventh) and Oxon (eighth).

Prestfelde went on to represent their school and Shrewsbury area at the Shropshire Homes School Sports Festival at Sundorne Sports Village in Shrewsbury, competing against other winning teams from across the county.
