Open events planned at school

Two open events are planned at an independent Shrewsbury school during March.
Prestfelde School, which educates around 270 children aged from three to 13 drawn from all over the county, will open the doors of its London Road premises for an open day on March 7 and a ‘showcase’ evening on March 13.
Caroline Williams, Prestfelde registrar, said that all prospective parents and pupils were welcome.

“On our open morning our pupils will be taking families on a tour of the school and the facilities we offer on our 30 acre site, followed by refreshments in the music department where there will be an opportunity to talk to our headmaster Mark Groome and other members of staff and existing parents,” she explained.

The showcase evening is a new event in the Prestfelde calendar. Starting at 5pm, there will be an exhibition highlighting the various subjects taught within the school – from science to sport – with displays of pupils’ work from each department.
“The children will be in attendance on the 'stands' and also act as ambassadors during the evening and Mr Groome will talk to parents about the benefits of our senior years, covering years six, seven and eight,” Caroline added.
Parents will be encouraged to view the work on show at the exhibition and ask questions and there will be a musical performance by pupils at the beginning of the evening and a short play at the end.
Anyone interested in attending either event should contact Caroline Williams on 01743 245400.
