Online food safety training - filming starts July.

4  local businesses collaborate to show how online training package saves caterers time and money.

Expert in food safety and hygiene, Chris Kinnersley, from CK Food Safety Consultancy has developed an online training package (Food Safety Online) to help catering businesses achieve their statutory Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene training for a fraction of the cost of a classroom course. Even better, staff work from their own computer without incurring travel or time costs for their employer.

Trainees log on and complete the material at their own speed. Work is saved and they login again as needed. Online payment is safe and speedy with PayPal as an option and trainees print out their Certificate when they’ve taken the exam.

this  July , Chris teamed up with local film producer and photographer Aaron Child of Painted Life Productions to film two local businesses whose staff have successfully completed the Food Safety Online training. It also shows how, with Chris’ consultancy support, they’ve gained the coveted 5 Star Food Hygiene Award  from Shropshire County Council and are now displaying their window stickers with pride.

Filming took place on Monday 15th July at two locations:  The coffee shop at Connexions store in Pontesbury and at the production kitchens of Jenny’s Catering in Bayston Hill; a small food manufacturer preparing ready-made meals. It includes interviews with the staff and business owners.

Chris said “It’s all very exciting; this is my first film! I am passionate about helping food businesses to be successful and am delighted to be working together with 3 local businesses.  In these lean times every penny counts for catering businesses. Our film shows how online training is convenient and cost effective and at £19.99 it’s perfectly possible to gain a Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene Certificate in under 2 hours!”

One of Jenny’s Catering successful trainees said:

“I have just completed the online training course and it’s taken me 90 minutes. I passed 29 out of 30. And the one I got wrong was the first aid question………….totally gutted, me being the first aider and all. My certificate is now filed in staff folder. Thanks for all your assistance and help.”    Sonia Vaughan, Jenny’s Catering, Bayston Hill, Shrewsbury. 18th June 2013

The film will be uploaded to view on YouTube, Chris’ website and in Caterers News; Chris’ e-newsletter supplying monthly updates and practical advice to caterers across Shropshire, Midlands and Mid Wales.
