National award for Peakes Travel

Shrewsbury’s only family run independent travel agency is celebrating after picking up a prestigious national award, beating over 80 similar firms from across the country.
Peakes Travel Elite, of Mardol, in Shrewsbury, won the Agent of the Year Award 2013 from the Elite Travel Group, for outstanding customer service and satisfaction, following feedback provided to the national body by customers.
The firm is celebrating over 20 years of successful trading in the town and has already reported a record turnover in the first two months of this year, with a great deal of interest in the cruise market.
Elite Travel Group chief executive, Neil Basnett, said: “I was very pleased that Peakes Travel Elite have won our most prestigious award and this was in complete recognition not only of their continuing growth in sales but primarily as a result of the outstanding customer service levels that they have continued to offer their clients.
“Their dedicated and highly knowledgeable staff is instrumental in proving the worth of independent travel agents to business travellers and the general travelling public.”
Peakes Travel Elite founder and proprietor Frances Peake added: “We offer everything from a single flight to a bespoke world tour itinerary and are ABTA covered to give both financial protection and peace of mind to our customers.
“An example of our customer satisfaction is the fact that we have a 70% turnover of repeat clients, which we believe is true testimony to the personal and dedicated service that we provide, especially as people are becoming far more discerning in their travel requirements.”
