Molly is cut above

A young Shrewsbury hairdresser has emerged as one of the top students on an intensive industry course.

Molly MacNamee (20), gained a distinction in a ten-week training programme in Manchester which was the culmination of a three-year apprenticeship with Toni & Guy in Shrewsbury.

Gavin Pulham, her boss at the Toni & Guy salon in Castle Street, said that the training course was very intense and included theory and practical tests.

“The students attend the group’s Manchester academy and are required to showcase a range of current trends - the knowledge needed is outstanding and Molly did extremely well to gain such high marks,” he said.

“Our Shrewsbury salon has an excellent record for training. In our 15-year history most of our young hairdressers come away with distinctions and credits and I’m genuinely proud of their achievements, especially when you consider that the standards are so high that the UK fail rate at the Toni & Guy academies is nearly 50%.

“Molly is a talented young hairdresser and we are delighted that her hard work has been rewarded,” he said.
