Mindfulness for greater wellbeing & stress reduction (MBSR)

An 8-week introduction to mindfulness and its integration into everyday life

Mindfulness is increasingly proving to be a highly effective and powerful tool for
• increasing our general wellbeing
• enhancing our ability to relax
• developing contentment
• reducing stress
• dealing with chronic pain and illness
• coping with difficult mental states

This course is based on the 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn and involves mindfulness exercises, meditation, gentle movement practices, discussion and home practice assignments.

It is suitable for everyone and facilitated by Astrid Schroeder BSc (Hons) Psych INLPTA who has undergone MBSR teacher training with and teaches MBSR under the supervision of the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice at the School of Psychology at Bangor University.

Requirements:  Willingness to undertake 60 minutes of home practice six days a week
Where:  Quaker Meeting House, Shrewsbury
Start date:  11th June 2013; 7pm-9:30pm
Duration:  8-weekly classes, around 2.5 hours each, + 1 optional full day
Fee: Sliding scale: £80-£160 (pay what you can according to means; please contact me for further concessions)

Orientation session – 24th May 2013, 7pm-8:30pm, Quaker Meeting House, Shrewsbury – FREE - The Orientation session is a chance to learn more about mindfulness and the 8-week course, is open to everyone and a requirement for those intending to attend the 8-week course.
