Inspiring change for women

International award-winning Shropshire businesswoman Deborah Mitchell will be one of the key speakers at an event next month aimed at inspiring others to follow in her footsteps.

Ms Mitchell, who founded Shifnal-based Heaven Health and Beauty, is taking part in an International Women’s Day conference on March 10, at The Belfry, Sutton Coldfield, which has the theme of ‘inspiring change’.

Organised by Shropshire entrepreneur Teresa Boughey, who runs Jungle HR consultancy, the Birmingham seminar is expected to attract around 100 women from across the country.

Teresa commented: “I am delighted to have attracted speakers of the calibre of Deborah Mitchell to this first conference - her skincare products are used by customers throughout the world, including A-list celebrities and royalty – she is certainly going to motivate the women who attend.”

Teresa is the driving force behind the event as part of her work as a ‘UK Female Entrepreneur Ambassador’. As one of only a handful of such volunteer ambassadors she travels the country encouraging pupils and women to start their own businesses.

“International Women’s Day is the ideal opportunity for women from all walks of life to celebrate their achievements and look to the future.

“The conference is aimed at giving delegates some inspiring insights into business success, enabling them to learn new skills and make valuable contacts as it will be attended by female entrepreneurs, business owners and senior leaders from across the country.”

The other key speaker at the event will be ground-breaking educationalist Kathy Crew-Read, recently appointed as the first-ever headmistress in the 500-year history of Wolverhampton Grammar School.

TV presenter Arti Halai will lead the conference, which will include workshops on PR, social media and maximising business potential, showcasing the practical skills and techniques which can help lead to success.
