Inner Wheel AGM and charity cheque presentation …

The Inner Wheel of Shrewsbury held its AGM at the Lord Hill Hotel where new officers were elected and a cheque from the year’s fundraising events was presented to the Carers Appeal of Shropshire Rural Community Council.

Out-going president Trixie Cooper said: “We set out to raise as much money as possible for local charities and we were absolutely delighted with the response and support from people who attended our fundraising events over the year which included a fashion show, coffee morning and woodland walk.

“We are delighted that the money we are donating will be spent on Christmas day trips which I am sure will give local carers the chance to have a day off from caring.  It is so nice that we can see that the funds are being spent in Shropshire on local people.”

Receiving a cheque for £1,650 Elodie Home of the RCC Carers Support Team said: “We are very grateful to the Inner Wheel for choosing us as their charity and the money raised will go towards assisting the hidden army of over 34,000 carers in the county who look after partners, family, friends or neighbours who are frail, ill or disabled.”

Taking office as president for the next year is Irene Robins and Mary Pascoe remains as club secretary.
