Hotel brings forward wedding fair for festive season proposals

Bosses at a Shropshire hotel have moved their annual wedding fair forward as demand in previous years has seen excited couples want to visit them earlier.

Staff at The Best Western Valley Hotel in Ironbridge has brought forward the event to cater for people who are lucky enough to be given a ring over the festive season to start organising their wedding as soon as possible.

The event is being held at the hotel on January 5 from 11am to 4pm

Lisa Snape, sales manager at The Valley said: “Our bridal fairs are always popular at any time of the year but we were getting lots of inquiries from couples who had got engaged on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day.

“They were keen to see what was available for their wedding as soon as they could.

“Brides, in particular, were excited to look at venues and get a head start on finding suppliers as soon as possible after saying yes to the big question.

“It was an easy decision for us to move the wedding fair to a week earlier.

“Our wedding fairs are always popular but we expect this one to be well-attended with the number of special proposals over Christmas and the New Year.”

A record number of exhibitors are expected to be at the wedding fair to advertise what they provide as well as bringing along special offers.

Mrs Snape said: “Our hotel is ideally located in the World Heritage Site for couples to visit and hopefully decide we are the perfect location for them to tie the knot.

“A couple’s wedding is one of the most important points in their lives and we want it to go as smoothly as possible.

“The wedding fair is an ideal opportunity to see what is available under one roof and attracts some great and very experienced suppliers.

“For us one of the most important things is that wedding planning and the big day goes as smoothly as possible.

“Everything from wedding photographers to bridal wear and cake makers will be at the fair for people to talk to and get ideas for their wedding day.”

She said: “We can also talk to brides and grooms about holding their wedding ceremony at our hotel. We are an ideal location in a picturesque setting.

“We have people from across the county coming to us for their weddings because it is so easily accessible and more importantly our setting.

“Our staff are experienced in organising weddings and ensuring the day is as stress free as possible.

“We are looking forward to speaking to and advising couples at our fair on what is available for their wedding day.”
