Home Care Company to hold recruitment & information event in Shrewsbury

A Shropshire home care company is to hold a recruitment and information event in Shrewsbury for people to find out more about job vacancies and the services it offers to older people living independently in their own homes.

Home Instead Senior Care is staging the recruitment and information morning at Central, Shrewsbury Baptist Church, in Claremont Street, on Thursday November 21 between 10am and noon.

The branch, which provides one-to-one tailormade care and companionship services to older people living in the Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Oswestry areas, is currently looking to recruit over 20 new caregivers to double the size of its care team.

The franchise was launched earlier this year by former Shropshire racehorse breeder Rachael Birchall to provide dignified and respectful domiciliary care. She was inspired following the experience of caring for her own grandmother during the last two years of her life.

Rachael said: “The morning will be an opportunity for both people who are interested in becoming a compassionate caregiver and families who wish to find out more about the care and companionship services we offer.

“We’re looking to recruit people who have a lot of natural empathy, who are seeking rewarding part-time work and who wish to make a real difference to the lives of older people living in their communities.

“People may be looking for just a few hours work a week, such as accompanying someone on a trip to the shops or to the cinema, or more substantial work of up to 30 hours a week.

“All our caregivers receive comprehensive training, ongoing job support and competitive rates of pay.”

Recruitment and training coordinator Debbie Allamby said: “We’re looking for people over 18, from college leavers to people who have taken early retirement and have interests and hobbies they may wish to share with someone.”

The Links Café, at the baptist church, will be open for refreshments during the recruitment event.
