Grange School prom

Students from Shrewsbury’s Grange Secondary School turned back the clock and turned up the glamour for their vintage themed prom night.

The Year 11 pupils, who will be leaving The Grange at the end of the summer term, took the old fashioned theme for the event which is held each year in the school hall.

Head teacher Rob Hatch, who took over at the school earlier this year, said that hundreds of parents and friends turned out on Thursday evening to cheer on the youngsters as they arrived in various modes of transport.

“The event has a wonderful community feel about it because it is probably the only prom in the area to be held on school premises,” said Mr Hatch.

“Both staff and students from The Grange put in a great deal of effort for the night and transformed the hall and canteen to fit in with the whole vintage theme.

“The students themselves looked wonderful with the boys in their tuxedos and the girls in some amazing ball gowns.”

Old fashioned buses, a vintage Rolls-Royce, a Ferrari and a decorated 1970s VW camper van were just some of the forms of transport which arrived in the grounds to drop off pupils.
