The Glittering Prizes

I thought you'd like to see the trophies that may be won during the season at Shrewsbury Croquet Club. We run two kinds of competition:  Weekend tournaments and what are referred to as 'on-going' events. The latter are spread out over the six months of the season, are played mostly during the week and consist of matches arranged, probably by telephone or e-mail, by the members, at their convenience. Thus, most mornings and afternoons you will find the lawns fully occupied by members. In the evenings you are more likely to see members of the University of the Third Age or of Rotary playing - dare I say it - golf croquet.'

I had hoped to report in this week's blog a resounding triumph against Chester Croquet Club, who visited us last weekend. Unfortunately, Chester won handsomely, so I shall not not mention it. If you wanted desperately to know the score, you could always phone Graham Colclough on 01939 233 196.
