Flying visit for Shrewsbury group

The Muskateers and Maidens Group, self-formed after the closure of the Grange Centre at Harlescott, now get together to meet every Wednesday at the Mereside Centre in Shrewsbury.

This week the group had a visit from Steve Cross, from Feather Perfect Falconry of Telford, who brought along several birds of prey including his 3-year-old European Eagle Owl called Mogul.

The club is organised by Shropshire Rural Community Council and runs from 10.30am until 3.30pm each week.

Support worker Michelle Perry-Clarke said: “The members were absolutely thrilled to meet Peter and his birds and many even got the chance to wear a large protective glove and handle the giant Owl which displayed its mighty wingspan.”

Steve Cross added: “These magnificent birds of prey need to be treated with great respect but they are now used to being near people and provide a great spectacle and I am delighted to be able to display them in fine form to members of this very special club.”
