From Flog-It to a Shropshire pub for charity!

A Shrewsbury charity will this month host an auction led by an auctioneer often found behind the scenes of BBC One’s Flog It.

The North Shrewsbury Friendly Neighbours (NSFN) will welcome Aaron Dean to the Two Henry’s Pub in Battlefield, Shrewsbury, on June 20 for the fundraising event.

And one of the top prizes is a football shirt signed by England goalkeeper Joe Hart, who is set to take to the pitch for England’s World Cup game on Thursday(19).

The NSFN provide practical and emotional support and companionship for the

elderly and vulnerable to ensure they can stay in their own homes as long as

possible.

They also provide a fortnightly friendship group where those who live alone can

get together and either enjoy activities at the Castlefields Community Hall or go

on an outing together.

The charity currently helps more than 400 people on a regular basis and is run by a team of 50 volunteers and co-ordinator Julie Thomas.

The Two Henrys auction will start at 7.30pm with lots available for all tastes and

ages. From a bottle of House of Commons Claret signed by David Cameron to a set of knitted toys, pony trekking and a driving lesson.

Organiser Julie, of NSFN, said: “It is set to be a great night as we have Aaron Dean of Halls leading the auction and more than 50 items to auction off.

“For the foodies there are lunches at The Wroxeter Hotel, Best Western Valley Hotel in Ironbridge, The Buckatree Hotel at the foot of the Wrekin, Ashleys in Shrewsbury and of course at the Two Henrys pub .

“For those looking for a helping hand there is a full days decorating and of course many other items too.

“We hope lots of people will come out to support the charity and walk away with the lovely prizes.”

The first session will begin at 7.30pm and go on for about an hour and the second session will begin at 9pm for about an hour.

Mr Dean, a behind-the-scenes valuer on the popular Flog It programme, said: “I am delighted to be supporting this excellent charity which does so much good work in the local community.”

There will also be a raffle with a £50 cash top prize, wine, chocolates and a big tub of Maynards Wine Gums which will be drawn on the night.
