First wedding fair at Parade a big success

Visitors flocked to the first wedding fair to be held at a historic Shropshire building at the weekend.

Queues formed before the doors to The Parade in Shrewsbury opened at 11am for the event on Sunday, which showcased the services of more than 30 local businesses.

“It was a very successful day, with a steady stream of visitors throughout the day and in total well over 100 people came to see what we have to offer,” said organiser Anne Tucker, who owns bridal wear specialists Wedding World in The Parade, situated in St Mary’s Place.

“There was a great buzz and lots of people commented on the lovely atmosphere created partly by the super weather and by the foot-tapping welcome generated by The Swing Katz Jazz Trio who played to welcome people at the entrance.

“Several exhibitors had bookings made there and then - one hair and make-up lady took six provisional bookings - and everyone thought it was a worthwhile day,” Anne said.

Anthony Randall of White7 chauffeured cars, based in Monkmoor, commented: "It was a well-organised event with a good atmosphere between exhibitors, creating positive feedback from potential clients. We secured several new bookings.”

Exhibitors at the Georgian building included bridal wear and formal menswear specialists, videographers, photographers, chauffeurs, florists, jewellers and caterers.
