Event for artists is planned

Two artists’ workshops are being held in Shrewsbury this month in response to local demand.

Enthusiasts from across the county are being invited to the next in a series of special creative events in the town.

The workshops, on November 22, will be held at the Unitarian Church in Shrewsbury High Street and will enable people to meet a paints expert and experiment with different mediums.

John Hall, owner of Write Here, which is opposite the church, said that he had organised the day for local artists.

“We invited Pip Seymour, who has launched a range of art products, to run a workshop earlier this year and it was a huge success so we are following it up due to the strong demand,” he said.

“He is coming back and will this time lead two sessions to share his knowledge and enthusiasm for the superb range of artist's materials.

“We stock his paints and they are extremely popular and as there are so many good artists in Shrewsbury and the county as a whole we are expecting a good deal of interest in the latest events.”

The first session, in the morning, will look at acrylics and water colours. The second workshop, in the afternoon, will be more about oils, mediums and creating colours based on the primaries.

John added: “We're limiting numbers to 15 or so for each session, partly due to space but mostly to ensure that it's more experience than lecture. “
