Event for artists is planned

Artists from across the county are being invited to a special creative event in Shrewsbury this month.

The workshop, on June 21, will be held at the Unitarian Church in Shrewsbury High Street and will enable people to meet a paints expert and experiment with different mediums.

John Hall, owner of Write Here, which is opposite the church, said that he had organised the day for local art enthusiasts.

“We have invited Pip Seymour, who has launched a range of art products, to run the workshop – it will be fascinating for people to meet him first hand and talk through various techniques,” he said.

“Pip is a Yorkshire-based artist who developed his company to create a complete range of painting and drawing materials, made in the UK under the supervision and guidance of artists rather than commercial interests.

“HIs philosophy is to create maximum potential for creative expression in each colour in acrylic, oil, watercolour, gouache, pastel and drawing materials.

“We stock his paints and they are extremely popular and as there are so many good artists in Shrewsbury and the county as a whole we are expecting a good deal of interest in the workshop.”

The event, which will run from 11am until 4pm, will explore how the materials are made and there will be an opportunity to try out different media onto a variety of prepared surfaces and the chance to ask questions about colour, colour-making and paint technique.
Anyone interested in attending should contact Write Here on [email protected] or 01743 245950.
