Enjoy May bank holiday Monday at Eyton Races.  The South Shropshire Hunt Point-to-Point on Monday 5th May promises to be as exciting as ever – and a great day out for all the family.

One of the highlights will be the return of 18 year old jockey, Annabel Dalton, who is hoping to defend her previous win at last year’s event. Annabel has already begun another successful season and is definitely ‘one to watch’.

As always there will be a range of locally produced food from selected local vendors. Food stands include rotisserie chicken and raclette from Roaming Rotisserie, sausages and burgers from Fordhall Farm. For those with a sweeter tooth there will also be cakes and meringues from The Little Round Cake Company and handmade chocolates from Bonboniere. Coffee will be available from Aroma and there will be a fully licensed bar.

Point-to-Point racing at Eyton is an exciting amateur form of steeple chasing set in beautiful rural Shropshire where race-goers can enjoy panoramic views of Wenlock Edge over to The Wrekin and Long Mynd. There will be several races throughout the day including the 2.5 mile maiden, the Ladies Open and Men’s Open.

James Tanner, Chairman of the South Shropshire Hunt Point-to-Point Committee commented, “Eyton is a great day out, particularly for families, with something for everyone. We have the excitement of the races themselves, along with the opportunity to place bets, a funfair and stalls offering local produce and a ‘Celebration of Shropshire Food’. We would love a great turn out for this popular event - and hopefully some sunshine as well!”

The gate opens at 11am, with the first race taking place at 2:00pm and the last at 5:40pm. Admission is £10 and free for under 12’s. Car parking is free.
