Couple Celebrate 65th Wedding Anniversary at The Vicarage Nursing Home Bayston Hill

When Mabel turned up to visit her husband, Eric on their 65th wedding anniversary she had no idea what was about to happen!!

She was whisked into the nurse’s office, constantly being reassured that Eric was absolutely fine while we pinned a corsage on to her dress and checked her hair and makeup. She was then presented with a bouquet of red carnations and maidenhair fern, which was a mini replica of her original one all those years ago. Martin, one of our carers scrubbed up extremely well in his best suit and proudly escorted Mabel through the Tv lounge into the conservatory where all the staff, residents, friends and Eric was waiting for his beautiful ‘bride’ to have their long marriage blessed.

The emotional service was conducted by Richard Hill our minister after which the couple were toasted with Champagne before cutting the cake and opening their cards. The afternoon was spent reminiscencing about their wedding day before enjoying a superb buffet.

Mabel says the secret of their long and happy marriage is friendship and giving & taking. It was a wonderful day and one we will all remember for many years to come. Congratulations Mabel and Eric.
