Cottage Gardeners Required

The Vicarage Nursing Home in Bayston Hill are looking for a keen cottage gardener or two. 'We have a lovely piece of land 40' x 20', complete with 2 sheds, an outdoor tap and room for a greenhouse and want to hand it over to either an individual or a group who would like to turn it into an allotment or a cottage garden,' says Matron Kay Davies. 'The Home is part of the community and we would love to have more people coming and going to be part of us.

We know that there are a lot of people on waiting lists for various allotment areas in Shrewsbury so this would be a great opportunity for someone. In return all we ask is that whoever takes the plot of land, that they are able to turn it into an allotment and commit to it for at least the next 12 month period.

They will of course also have to be aware that the garden will be part of the Home and our ladies and gents will like to sit out at times and watch the gardeners work and have chats too. Most of what they grow though would be theirs - it would be their plot to do with as they wish.'

Anyone who is interested or would like to have more information can ring Kay on (01743) 874 030. She would love to have you over to look at the area and have a chat and a cup of tea.
