Conscious Kongo! A night of African music comes to The Buttermarket, Shrewsbury

Starting in London and finishing at Shrewsbury’s legendary venue The Buttermarket on Saturday 1st February 2014, Yaram Arts and Chanya Culture Promotions bring Congolese music acts Mulele Matondo Afrika and Lopango Ya Banka to the UK for two nights only of Conscious Kongo!

Mulele Matondo Afrika and his 9 piece band based in the UK will be joined by Germany based Lopango Ya Banka (meaning Land of the Ancestors in Lingala) for a short and one off UK tour. This will be the first time Lopango Ya Banka have performed in the UK, having toured worldwide with the likes of US hip hop acts such as Dead Prez and Ice Cube.

The night will take the people of Shrewsbury on a journey of all the sounds from Congo (Central Africa), from ancient rhythms, jazz harmonies to rap. 

The two Congolese acts will perform at The Buttermarket (The Cellars), Shrewsbury on Saturday 1st February. Doors 6.30pm, show time 8pm. Tickets in advance £12 www.thebuttermarket.co.uk or £13.50 on the night.
