Coffee morning call

Staff at a Shrewsbury salon are inviting local people to join them at the world’s biggest coffee morning on September 27.

The team from Toni & Guy in Castle Street are hosting one of the many Macmillan coffee mornings, raising money for cancer care nurses.

Lauren Foskett, salon manager, said that everyone was invited along to enjoy a coffee and piece of cake.

“Macmillan is one of our favourite charities and we often hold events in aid of this cause. Some of our stylists are also trained as specialist ‘strength in style’ consultants who work with cancer patients who have lost their hair,” she said.

This is Macmillan's biggest fundraising activity, when people across the UK are asked to hold a coffee morning, with donations being made on the day. In 2012 a total of 115,000 people signed up, raising a record £15 million.
