Charity partnership announced

Shropshire Rural Community Council held its AGM in the President’s Pavilion at the County Showground in Shrewsbury where a new charity partnership was announced.

The annual meeting was chosen to launch the ‘Charity of the Year’ partnership with the County Showground and RCC chief executive Julia Baron said: “We are thrilled to be chosen as the Shropshire and West Midlands Agricultural Society ‘Charity Partner of the Year.’

“This exciting new partnership will see Shropshire RCC develop a high profile at showground events throughout the year and staff from both sides are already working on ideas for a number of collaborative activities.

“There is a lot of synergy between our two organisations and we look forward to a very productive relationship over the coming year.”

A review of the year for members, volunteers, staff and trustees gave examples of how Shropshire RCC makes a difference to the life of the people of the county, including the wheels to work scheme, sensory resources, preventative services, fuel poverty, sight loss opportunity group and getting Shropshire online.

County Showground director, Ian Bebbington, added: “The society is committed to developing strong and fruitful partnerships within the community and we are delighted with this announcement as the RCC does very important work in both the urban and rural community by assisting people in need.

“We look forward to helping them in spreading the good work that they do across the county and also to welcome their presence at our County Show in May 2014 and other events throughout the year.”
