Charity Ball launches festive season with a bang!

Guests at this year’s Mayor of Wem’s Charity Ball were treated to a night to remember up at Palms Hill, the new wedding and events venue overlooking the town. Whilst they enjoyed Prosecco and canapés on arrival, the traditional Christmas carols, twinkling fairy lights and lanterns, gave the marquee a magical festive feel and set the tone for a fabulous evening.

The popular caterer Ed Potter of Oak Apple Catering served up a delicious three-course meal and the professional bar service was provided by Tim of Tipples who kept the wine flowing all evening. Many local suppliers worked together supporting the function to ensure its success.

The elegant ivory marquee was decked out with a silver and black winter wonderland theme, complete with a fully decorated Christmas tree, kindly donated by Benbow Brothers, and a stunning reindeer table centre lent by a local venue dresser. The enthusiastic bidding for the many fantastic lots, such as the aerobatics experience, contributed to the merriment of the event. The dance floor was kept full all evening by live band Monterey Jack and the Malcontents, and the Ball culminated with a cheery rendition of Auld Lang Syne.

The Mayor, Cllr Connie Granger, said ‘I couldn’t have wished for more. The evening has been such a success for my Charity fund. I really believe this is down to the generosity of all those involved and the attraction of this beautiful place.’

‘I love organising events and seeing them come together, I am just so pleased that Connie is happy and that we have raised over £1000 for worthy causes!’ said Meg Wilton-Morgan, of Palms Hill Weddings and Events.

Most definitely a night, and venue, to remember!
