A Tribute to Cal Tjader - Featuring Paul Sawtell

Cal Tjader was one of the pioneers in Latin-Jazz Music. Primarily a vibes player, he also played drums and percussion.  From the 1950s until his death in 1982 he recorded over 70 albums and toured internationally with numerous artists including;  George Shearing, Dave Brubeck, Lalo Schifrin, Anita O'day, Kenny Burrell, Dizzy Gillespie, Mongo Santamaria, Willie Bobo, Stan Getz.

Australian Casey, now a resident of Shrewsbury, has been performing in the UK since 2004 and is regarded as one of the UK’s finest jazz flautists.

Paul Sawtell, a remarkable jazz pianist and vibraphone player, has shared the stage with numerous jazz artists including the BBC Radio Big Band, Herb Geller, Dick Morrisey, Jim Mullen and Don Weller.

Casey Greene and Paul Sawtell have been playing music together since 2006.
They recently decided to combine their talents on a new project, performing the music of Cal Tjader.  All this is brought together with the help of Casey's regular rhythm section, all great band leaders in their own right;
