Care Homes Signing Up With Shropshire-Based Medical Service Will Benefit From New Buying Partnership

A Shropshire-based medical services organisation has joined forces with a national care products supplier to save care homes time and money.

Caradoc Medical Services has launched a pilot partnership with Care Shop, a market leader in the care home sector.

The aim is to use a joint approach to increase business with small, independent care homes helping them save money and time through the collective buying power of members.

It also encompasses advice to help care home managers and staff implement the highest standards when it comes to issues such as infection control and the right equipment to reduce risk to residents.

Caradoc Medical Services, sister company of Shropdoc, is a national buying consortium with more than 20,000 members enjoying the benefits of collective buying for products and services. Strength in numbers means Caradoc can negotiate a range of discounted rates and special offers for its members.

Peter Masters, business manager for Caradoc, said the initial rollout would be to 250 care homes across Shropshire and Powys, extending to more if successful.

“Both Caradoc and Care Shop believe it would be greatly beneficial to develop a joint approach in working with small, independent care homes,” he said.

“Between the two organisations, we can offer care homes access to a range of core products and services helping them save both time and money.

“Care Shop is the leading supplier of consumables and equipment into the UK care home market. Caradoc complements this offering care homes access to a range of additional products and services that they can benefit from including stationery and office supplies, copier and printer services, telephony, uniforms, carpets, cleaning services, utilities and even employment support.

“It’s about being able to offer a whole package of support to help care homes care for their patients, their staff and also their business.”

Care Shop, which is part of the Bunzl Group, has a wide range of products such as beds, lifting equipment, slings and fall reduction items.

Paul Cartwright, Channel Manager for Care Shop said “We are delighted to be working closely with Caradoc to trial a joint approach in Shropshire and Powys. We believe the benefits of dealing with Care Shop together with Caradoc’s wider range of products and services make an exciting package for care homes in the area.”
